Text 13 Apr Tiny Issue -Open Sourced

Ok guys,

I have been crazy busy these past few weeks and did not get a chance to post on some pretty exciting news.  We (Realize The Web) Have decided to open source Tiny Issue.  The response so far has been pretty great!  So far we have 249 people watching with 26 forks on github.  Please take a minute and install/play around/use Tiny Issue if you are in need of a simple, but usable Issue/Bug tracking system.

Text 9 Mar Something about the weather

There is just something awesome about a nice spring morning.  The fresh air opens up the creative juices and makes me feel like I can conquer the world.  Unfortunately it was really cold this morning.  But now it is an almost perfect 60º and I am feeling awesome.

So it took a while, but my day is starting to go great.  I’m working on some really awesome things at the moment.  Web dev. iOS dev. and about to do some real creative things in an industry that I am very new to.

As a lot of people know, most of my “professional” life has been centered around transportation.  Now the trucks you see on the road may seem pretty bland, but there is a lot going on there besides moving stuff from point A to point B.  I get to play with some really big numbers :), honestly it is a very interesting field to be in.

Unfortunately ,after a dealing I had recently I’m a little upset at how stagnate a company prefers to be.  We were on the verge of being able to do some very cool, industry changing things and then at the drop of a hat that was all halted.

So I’m off to do things in “greener pastures” (literally).  And really cool things are about to happen.

I want to close with this… If you are going to hire a person and have no idea what that person does (Say a VP of Information Services) be aware that you will hear a lot of bullshit.  You should consult with someone who does know the field before making that kind of decision and not just hire a person that high up because he is a “Good Guy”.  Because honestly, it will come out in the end that that person maybe didn’t know a damned thing!

Also! TinyIssue will be launched very soon!

So things are going pretty good. Realize the Web is official and we should be launching our first product very shortly (Like this week shortly).  I have left on position for another in hopes to build my career abilities a bit.  Ton of contract/consultant work to keep my free time to a minimum.  Everything is exciting, just wish I could fast forward a bit to get through the sleeplessness of everything right now.

Text 27 Jan Whats the deal with lamp posts?

I mean they really don’t say anything.

OK… maybe I’ve had too much medicine, but it appears to be the season of good ‘ol fashion sick fun.  Right now I have 2 sick children (ear infections) and my wife and I are sick as well (sinus infections).  Have not trusted myself to competently do much more than I have to the past few days.  I seem to be doing a lot better so hopefully I can have a very productive weekend and get some of the items off of my bored knocked off the to-do and onto the to-done!

Text 9 Jan Back to the workout

So for some reason (got sick, holidays hit, laziness), I gave up on my workout regime in the past month or so.  Well, no more!  Hit the gym this morning with a nice 45 minute cardio workout on the elliptical (episode and a half of Boy Meets World).  And I feel great.  Hopefully I won’t find any excuse to stop again and can keep myself motivated to do more.  We will see how it goes.

Text 5 Jan 1 note Tiny Issue

So a friend of mine and I are working on a product that will change the world…Ok, maybe it won’t change the world..But! it is going to be great.

We work on a lot of projects that are not at all public and we needed a bug tracking system.  The systems we like are all hosted solutions which wouldn’t work for us as clients are quite anal (and rightly so) on any information possibly being leaked.  This include software bugs.  The downloadable solutions we looked at were mostly overkill, too many options, too large a system, and really didn’t do what we want.  So we have built Tiny Issue to solve this.  A small locally hosted bug system that is simple to use for anyone from Developers to Project Managers to the End User of your systems.

We are very close to a release with this project.  We have just hired a designer to make the UI beautiful and are hopefully going to release a free mobile (iOS) app along side the product that will be as easy to use as the system itself.

The system is built with php/mysql running on the Laravel framework, which if you haven’t checked out and are a php developer I highly recomend.  Laravel is REST based framework, which being primarily a php web developer I can’t believe it has taken someone this long to get a good one going.

Anywho, look for more updates with Tiny Issue in the near future.

Text 3 Jan Welcome

Just thought I would throw up a quick post explaining who I am and why you should care.  I am Zachary, a husband a dad and a developer.  I will post on all (and more!) of these topics as our Journey goes a long.  I’ve tried to blog in the past and never felt like I had anything to say that anyone else would care to read.  This will be different in that I am going to post things that I would like to read.  Any who, thanks for checking this out and be sure to leave comments/criticisms/rants/whatever.
